Jericho Sailing Centre "in the wind" June 28, 2007
Ahoy JSCA Members:
Here is what's "in the wind", coming events and items
of interest at the Jericho Sailing Centre, your ocean access community
centre, for June 28-July 4, 2007 and beyond:
Canada Day at Jericho, Eh!
Jericho Sailing Centre, the former Department of National Defense
"Building 13", is a natural place to connect with Canada Day
and celebrate the freedom we as Canadians enjoy every day.
Built in the 1930s to facilitate civil defense, DND Jericho Air Station
was originally occupied by people launching flying boats and seaplanes
into the sea, patrolling over the rugged west coast of British Columbia
to keep us free from potential threat. They risked their lives, everyday.
They launched their seaworthy craft into every sea surface and weather
condition. Their purpose was to preserve our country so we could be
free to launch on the sunny days, or whenever we choose. They toughed
it out, they did what they had to do so that we can do what we choose
to do, which isn't so tough. We appreciate their efforts, and what better
way to appreciate them than to launch your boat from the Jericho Sailing
Centre for a leisurely patrol of Vancouver's English Bay on Canada Day?
"Canada's Cup" Special Canada Day Sunday Racing
Unfurl your flag and sheet in for your country at the Special
Canada Day Edition of Sunday Racing. Show your colours, fly the red
maple leaf, sing the National Anthem! There will be a prize for the
crew of the most patriotic vessel as judged by our Race Committee. Sunday,
July 1st @ 1230H. Paddlers & rowers welcome!
Turn your family and friends into Jericho Junkies!
Introduce your friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to
the Jericho Sailing Centre. Our school programs are filling fast. Windsurfing
lessons from $49, kayaking lessons from $69, dinghy sailing lessons
from $230. Windsurfing season's passes from $199 Kayaking season's passes
$330. Dinghy Sailing season's passes $300.

for our Bailiff Auction.
Unpaid Boats Being Blown Out - Volunteer Workparty Saturday

Ground storage craft which are unpaid and heading for the Bailiff
Auction July 7 are being removed from their spot in preparation for
the Annual Bailiff Auction, so that we may accommodate relocation requests
and new craft coming into the compound. We need some volunteer muscle

this project will help us accommodate you.
